Jack de Keyzer

Our group first saw Jack de Keyzer perform at the Cadillace Lounge - a bar out on Queen at Dufferin that has 1/2 a caddy over the door. We had gone on the recommendation of one of our members, and we were blown away!
Since then we have seen him perform at Healey's Roadhouse and at the Orangeville Blues & Jazz Festival. Everytime, he and his backup band just keep on sounding better.

I look forward to seeing him again the next time he is in the area.

Shakura S'Aida

This past weekend, some of the group headed down to the Distillery District to participate in their fantastic outdoor Blues Festival. Shakura S'Aida was the opening act on the Main Stage. she was amazing as always - with her charm, voice and as always amazing stage presence.

I first saw Shakura at the Orbit Room at a tribute to Ray Charles last fall. Since then the group has seen her at Fathead's CD Launch at Healey's Roadhouse, and as part of the Divas at Orangeville Blues and Jazz Festival. But Saturday, the stage was hers and she put on a great show for us all. Got her CD and had her autograph it, of course - very charming off the stage too.
She'll be back at the Distillery next month as part of Parti Gras - we'll be back to hear her too!

You can find her online at www.myspace.com/shakurasaida

Fathead

Fathead is an amazing Juno-awarding-winning local blues band.
With John Mays on vocals, band leader Al Lerman on harp, tenor saxophone & vocals, Omar Tunnoch on bass & vocals, as well as Darran Poole on guitar and Bucky Berger on drums.
Our group has seen this band on numerous occassions and at various venues across the GTA including:
New Year's Eve at the Silver Dollar,
their CD launch at Healey's Roadhouse - no cover charge courtesy of the band and free food too
the Orangeville Jazz & Blues Festival - nothing beats live blues outdoors!
Danceable, enjoyable, unforgettable ... definitely a band worth following.
