This past weekend, some of the group headed down to the Distillery District to participate in their fantastic outdoor Blues Festival. Shakura S'Aida was the opening act on the Main Stage. she was amazing as always - with her charm, voice and as always amazing stage presence.I first saw Shakura at the Orbit Room at a tribute to Ray Charles last fall. Since then the group has seen her at Fathead's CD Launch at Healey's Roadhouse, and as part of the Divas at Orangeville Blues and Jazz Festival. But Saturday, the stage was hers and she put on a great show for us all. Got her CD and had her autograph it, of course - very charming off the stage too.
She'll be back at the Distillery next month as part of Parti Gras - we'll be back to hear her too!

I have been reading through your posts about the great bands and venues the group has enjoyed. I want to say... I have been a member of Toronto Music Lovers since August '06 and I think you are a terrific organizer; I have enjoyed so many of these events!
